Our story
Here at Rio Tomatlán we pride ourselves in serving you authentic coast to coast cuisine prepared with the freshest, locally and seasonally grown ingredients. Our restaurant is built on tradition and respect for the craft. Our food is prepared using time-honored techniques, including the ancient process of making tortillas from scratch—something few places still take the time to do. Every element is made in-house, from the West Coast–inspired dishes to the sauces, with moles that require patience, skill, and real labor. There are no shortcuts here. The focus is on quality at every step, using carefully sourced ingredients. The menu reflects traditional fare done the right way, letting the flavors speak for themselves. The bar follows the same philosophy, offering one of the strongest selections of mezcal and tequila around—top-tier spirits at fair prices. Where we truly shine is doing private events upstairs in Quiote, menus that create standards over and over on ourselves and creating a environment like no other!
Our imports include a vast selection of authentic ingredients and spices. Cheeses from a family of Michuacan, Mexico. Tortillas fresh made on Monday Delivered on Tuesday. Tequila lined walls and our invigorating Mezcal from all over. Coffee fresh roasted every week. Never frozen fish. Locally grown ingredients. Because this is the only way we know how.
Our Mission is to push out the taste of Mexico through our experience being raised by them influences, friends, family, idols and mentors from the La costa Alegre through the mountains and cities all the way to the coast of Veracruz. From the Northern border Laredo straight through to the big city, Mexico City.
